Epic Comeback
No prizes for guessing how the player-manager must be feeling relieved as his side come back from 2 goals down and win 3-2 in spectacular fashion for only their second win in the league. I would have said it was long overdue. Lanxer did his own team no favour by turning out a horror show in the first 10 mins of the game.
With no pressure on the ball, Lanxer misplaced a pass and the opposition got the ball & finished off for the lead. In less than few mins later, a complete mix-up between defender & keeper let the striker toe poke the ball. This wasn’t the kind of right start for this important match-up. Really sloppy defending from the player-manager who have always preached about ‘safety first ‘ in defensive play. However, Tusser need a win badly in this tough season and was glad that they pulled one back thru a Fatt goal. It ricochets off him after a poor clearance from Tembusu. Both teams later finished the half with few shots off target.
Halftime team talks emphasized on the need to go direct down the wings. Tusser attacked right from the start determined to get back on level terms. Ripeng began to show off his dribbling skill on the right after being starved for services in the 1st half. In one good cross, Fatt managed to score with a towering header past the keeper. Tusser wingers began to use the width to torment their defense. If the 1st cross that lead to the equalizer is delicious, then I would say the second is mouth watering…. Some good intrigue play from Omar & Tong managed to see Omar send the cross to Derek, with this kind of cross, he would be shot in the head if he never finished it off. The goal celebration from Derek shows how important it meant to him to open his account in the league. Another talking point in the game was an almost fourth goal; Derek has already got the ball CLEARLY over the line before the Tembusu defender hooked it clear. I would have dared the referee to allow the goal to stand. But clearly we did enuff to win the encounter. From now on, the only way is UP for Tusser! Tusser climbed off the bottom.
It was nail biting but yet satisfying for the team Luckily Lanxer wasn’t needed any words of condolences with the comeback performance from the team. But clearly the 2 goals he gave away will be in his memory for a long time to come.
Weida stood out with is composed performance even after a 3 weeks absence & clearly did his part as the new Skipper. We will be seeing more leadership from him as the season progress.
There will be inquest about Aaron absence as there is no news of him saying that he wont be attending although the attending list showed he is in. ( Players are reminded to have some accountability , update or informed your leader if you have problem to turning up for the game )
