With a heavy downpour island wide, Babas was unexpectedly early to kick off while the Tusser camp was still changing. Kinda ill prepared , Alvin have to sit out with a slight fever,with Encik Lim & Hao arriving shortly.
Field was good except for some areas with puddle of water. Another goals galore match up between 2 long time rivals.Tusser started on the side defending the shorter goal post. First goal came courtesy from a long pile driver from Eugene straight at the keeper who was unable to hold the ball in the wet surfaces, Da need no invitation to open his account for the season.
Da still recovering from his recent bout of illness must have pleased the team with his industry and work ethic in this match. The second came from good thinking from Fatt who from a quick throw, gave the ball to the on rushing Erwin, who managed to sneak thru 2 defenders and volleyed home from an acute angle. Tusser let Babas in with a shout when their ever impressive Aaron O strived on to score with a moment of shambolic passing in the Tusser backline. HT 2-1
Definitely the second goal (2-1) gave the springboard for Tusser to maintain the advantage. With relegation looming in the fate, Babas came swamping in numbers. And they really threatened with their constant attacks but well all those including the 3 that hit the bars was ‘miraculously’ saved by our custodian Wenjie. Tong have to leave early in the second half with a heavy knock. Fears was compounded on the Tusser boys after Aaron O again found acres of spaces latched home to bring the score to 2-2. Flashback to the 1st leg when Tusser score 2 only to concede 3 to Babas. Fatt immediately have glorious chance to score in a one-one but the Babas keeper did well to foil it.Hao also had a Ferocious strike coming back off the bar. The only to score for us , is thru our counter attacks.
In an explosive run, Hao managed to breech thru the Babas defense and hooked it into the net. It was a Hao goal, from the other forgotten one who grew up in the Tusser family. It was a transformation from his younger years when he is still plying his trade with Tusser. If that goal helped us to gain important 3 points, in money sense it was certainly worth at least a mighty $17 bucks (Hao took a cab from AMK to rush down to Sentosa).
The goal celebration was extragavant but really it shows how Tusser cherish that winning goal. This win also coincide with our best sequence in the league this season. Babas with a rich history in the league have to fight hard to stay in the league.
Wenjie with his uncanny agility and stamina amazingly stopped those attacks and prevailed in the wet surfaces. Truly a classy MOM display
In a neutral point of view, Babas don deserved to lose but since that last game they got one over us, I guess it’s not greedy of us to gain one back over them.
This win will lift spirit, will and motivation for our final push to survive in this luckless season.
