ISA 2-1 Tusser

A new DOG year sees the new season kick off in a hurry. For the Chinese community , the CNY fever is still on everyone’s mind. Today see the match up between the Champions of Top 2 division of last season.
Fernvale pitch sounds a nice name but the conditions begs to differ. It was clearly unplayable , largely pot holes and uneven grass. Both teams have every reasons to called off the game but eventually still persist to play on.

Tusser lined with a predictable 4-4-2 , and kicked off the game playing against the wind flow. Both teams struggled to play a decent playing game. ISA had a few good shots at goals but were wide on those occasions. Tusser took the lead thru a penalty from PENG. He must have fancied his chances after watching those penalty shoot outs in the African Cup of Nations matches. ISA keeper got a touch on the ball but was still unable to keep it up. Tusser went into the break with that advantage.

Our 2 central defensive pairing (Da & Hao) put out a wonderful show in the second period. ISA came out from their shell and bombarded the Tusser goal. Da easily won the MOM with an amazing goal line clearance. It’s a waste that we could have done more with some of our counter attacks. Their left winger tormented our right back and rightly won the game for ISA with a assist and a solo goal from the flank in virtually the closing minutes of the match.

The late winner from ISA was devastating blow to our season opener but we are glad that the amount of hard work and tenacity shown by our players is commendable. The last thing on the everyone mind is to get injured in this lousy field.

With a much tougher challenges ahead , we really need to improve in fitness & skill. We cant go on whole season waiting for LUCK to happen , clearly we fall short of every department. We need to apply those team talk to our play in the field. The statistics does not help us much. We need to do much more in order to help ourself and preserve survival in the league.
