The final league game of the season end abruptly by Barclays. With this match of no importance at all, Tusser prepared for this game with only 12 players present and with most of the first eleven players on leave or holiday.
Tusser Rangers brought forward the game as we are more than happy to end the season early and then start our preparation back into the top flight. Just like our last game, our opponent has to fight for their promotion place to the elite of the league. The game was littered with fouls that the referee failed to control. In fairness, the referee failed the control the game and causes the wrath from both camps. Barclays overwhelmed the division champions with four goals.
I shall not dwell too much on the report of this match, with forthcoming celebration party by our sponsor coming up and the ESPZEN awards night in the pipeline, Tusser will go into the festive season in jubilant mood , still sweeting from the fine memories of the season long campaign.
Tusser started the game with a makeshift squad with half of the team playing out of position. Barclays which harbors hope of being promoted attacked straight from the first whistle and was delighted to score just 19 mins. The second was scored from a freekick where the Tusser wall never did his job. The half ended with Tusser 2 goals down.
Second half started with heavy downpour & strong winds that almost threaten to call off the game but subsided after 15 mins. Barclays got their goals thru a corner when a loose ball was headed in the 6 yards box , after he eluded the Tusser keeper.
Barclays got their fourth thru a counter attack and some terrible mis communication from the Tusser captain & the keeper. Fuelled by the desire of having to score at least a goal in every game, Tusser was duly rewarded after successive attacks where Wenjie poked in the loose ball in 70th mins. The match nearly turned into a free for all at the closing minutes as the Barclays player lunged a high tackle from behind and was rightfully dismissed. But the outside interference from the Barclays camp was absolutely alarming, who charged into the field & were deemed trying to use their umbrellas and take the matters in their own hands. The triumphant Barclays were glad to end the match with a win and await their fate.
Kudos to our players for braving thru the rain, it’s a pity the last game ended in defeat. But definitely with no expectation from this game, the players were just told to enjoy their soccer on this wet Sunday. Everyone in the Tusser family should be thrilled with all these achievement , everyone have contributed their fair bit during this wonderful season.
I glad the season has ended. I wish all players have improved themselves in their skill, knowledge and understanding of the game. I am glad I have completed my task in helping bringing back Tusser back among the best in ESPZEN in one way of another. I shall now take my leave and end the season on a high I will try to cement my place in the senior team in bid to regain my playing confidence as I have made a pact with some of the senior’s players... But ever then always, I will be supporting to back up the elite if the numbers is short. A pat on the back for everyone .
