After a god weeks 3 weeks break from league action , Tusser returned to Katong field since the last defeat to the same opponent today Tembusu. The best antidote of a sweet revenge is of course to beat them and declare our intent to win promotion. Tusser were very wary of the pitch condition and the afternoon blazing sun.
Tusser started with a combative 4-5-1 hoping to use the trio of Hao , Tong & Yeow to run the show. Tembusu kicked off the match on the front foot. Tembusu top scorer look promising on the left flank although both flanks of the field look clearly unplayable. He managed to beat our fullbacks on few occasions with ease and put in telling crosses. Tembusu by only 15 mins have few good shots on goals but for some brave keeping by Terence , Tembusu would have gone a few goals up and gain good advantage. In truth , Tusser nearly recovered from the wake up call,the midfield found hard to play their smooth passing and they finally concede a goals after good inter passing by the Tembusu striker which was finished off coolly. Tusser fullbacks will hope to put this first half behind them as they have struggled to catch up with the game. Fatt then failed to leveled the score with a volley which rocked the cross bar.
There was a good 15 mins stoppage during the last few mintues of the 1st half. Asst Captain Da had a deep gash on the back of his head(lots of blood) after an unfortunately clash of head with a Tembusu player. With only 3 mins to the end of first half , Tusser equalized after a good ball from Jerald put Fatt through and he managed to poke the ball past the hepless keepr. Tembusu will be disappointed to end the half with score at 1-1.
Tusser changed the team around for the second half , opting for a more attacking line up with the impressive MOM Tong switching to a left role and Jerald coming in as a defensive holding midfielder. Tusser managed to win a penalty as early in the 5th mins of the 2nd half. Tong brilliant run into the penalty box was abruptly halted by the Tembusu last man. Hao took the responsibility and calmly placed the ball into the bottom left corner. The match was then littered with rough tackles and yellow cards. Tembusu then got a reprive after their man was brought down by our defender. To our surprise , the penalty managed to beat Wenjie the other way but his shot rolled wide of the post. With that adavantage , Tusser will have to ensure they dont throw the lead away. Wenjie then have to leave the field due to the imminent darkness. Both set of players looked clearly to have abadond their football tactics as they will do anything to score a goal tilt h final whistle. A roar of relive was felt through the Tusser camp as the final whistle was finally blown. Tembusu will feel hard done for the chances they created as they leave the Katong empty handed. With this win , Tusser have sealed at least a promotion play off spot with 4 games left to play.
NOTE : The unforuntately incident of head clash have made us learnt something , a bandage & Vaseline maybe will helped greatly.
We have come so far to this stage , with only 4 games left , we left with ourself no choice but to fight for the Champions of Div and thus entered in the 8 team - Cup where the Champions of the 6 DIVS plus a best Runner up & mid week league champion.
