Both side start the game on equal term. Senior Team have the game in control. The first chance falls to Senior Team. Believe it of not, it’s our senior team stopper, Ah Koon that open the account. He received the ball in the penalty box and calmly control it, round the keeper and whack it hard into the back of net in the 10min of game.
Thereafter, 15min of play, our true stamina and pace had shown. The Elite team had taken over the control and start to delegate the play. The fast play down the wing had caused the senior team some problem and several chances was created by Elite team. The old horse, Steven although lack in pace, stamina and strength, had manage to find himself lots of space behind our defence line. He had open up the senior team’s defence and had almost pull the score line level at some occasion. The elite team’s control play and fast pace had created the best chance of the first half for the usually deadly striker, Kar Fatt. With only himself facing the goal keeper, Ken. Somehow he did not manage to have a clean shot on goal and to the relieve of the senior team, it went wide. The first half ended with a precise cross from the left from a well known ex-international, Suria that managed to find Derek who out jumped the entire senior team defence and score the equalizer for elite team. First half ended all square at 1-1.
Second half started pretty much the same as how it end in first half. The Elite team was on the offensive on the first whistle. Again, lack of stamina and pace from the senior team had created several chances down the flank from the Elite team. As the old saying goes, do not force a tiger to into a corner or it will jump over the wall. The senior team somehow manage to pull themselves together with the never say die fighting spirits from the entire team, had taken the control back from elite team. Several chances was created with some neat passing. As usual, the end result was not desired and the ball did not end up at back of net. In the 70 min, the MOM, Wan Yuan intercepted the ball at the middle of the field and he bring the ball forward without much resistance from the senior team mid field. He suddenly found himself with an shooting opportunity at the senior team goal post. Seeing the keeper offline, executed a beautiful lop over the goal keeper and the ball has the right weight and height and it ended up precisely into the goal and leaving the senior team keep no chance to save it.
Score 2-1 to elite team. The spirits was slightly dampened for the senior team who fought well in second half. More chances was created by senior team down the flank and managed to open up the elite team defence line. Same old story, no goal scored.
the chances was limited for Elite team in second half, with several attack neutralized by the senior team defence. However, the lack of pace from the senior team backline was exposed with a fast counter attack from elite team. Bringing the ball forward by the elite team forward, Derek with a few twist and side step, he manage to find Ah Peng dashing down the line from the right. He was not marked and he basically received the ball and reach the senior team goal line with only himself facing the keeper. Wasting no chance, he converted it and bring the score-line to 3-1 to elite team. This must surely kill off any chance of revival for senior team.
True enough, there is not much energy left for both team. The final score line read Eilte Team 3 – Senior Team 1. What an entertaining and enjoyable game both teams
had. A successful event and game and 3 cheers for Tusser Ranger FC.
