Well, first of all, sorry for the delay. It is always difficult to write the match report after a hot sunday afternoon game especially when your team has just suffered a first defeat of the season. Shall keep it short and sweet...
Tusser stepped into its 5th match of the seaso without many key players on a usual bright sunday. The long list of absentees include inspirational captain, Lanxer, last week's MOM, Weida, Wanyuan, Zhenhao, Derrick, Francis, Eugene and many more who i cannot really remember. With the elite squad totally depleted and baring having 11 players left, Tusser sought the help of the Seniors to chalk up the numbers.
Things did not look good from the beginning and everything seem to go wrong from there. Senior players like Kok Hom, Alan and Chew Yang had already played a game in the morning and the heat was taking a toll on thier ageing bodies. Many players turned up late and if not for the late referee, Tusser would not have 11 players to start the game with.
Tembusu opened their scoring with only 5 minutes from the start, thanks to a very lively and speedy forward who spun around our defence effortlessly throughout the match. Kar Fatt was equally lively at the other end of the field, chasing down empty balls and looked like the only Tusser player who is playing to standard.
Equaliser came after a long ball from Derek caused some confusion in the Tembusu defence and Kar Fatt was at the right place to punish them with a tap in.
Although the equaliser came at a very vital period, the rest of the team could not carry on the momentum and capitalise on the situation. Even before the potential champions could rectify the mistakes, Tembusu struck with another 2 quick goals. Hao came close to closing the lead with a 2nd half free kick and Daniel was equally threathening on the right wing. Many chances followed but none found the back of the net.
Kar Fatt managed to put his name on the score sheet for the fifth time this season nearing the end of the match to put cut the margin to a respectable 3-2. Initiated by Jit Tong, a cross was finally met by the head of an on rishing Kar Fatt, who is currently topping the scoring charts.
So the matched ended 3-2 to Tembusu and although we lost our first game, we should not be hanging our heads low. We might have lost the battle on Sunday, but there is the championship won to be won. So, lets put our feets together next week and produce some results.
To those injured on Sunday, recover soon!!! That is including myself!! haha
